Nordic Yarn is a modern luxury yarn house built on a simple conviction: the materials should be worthy of the time it takes to knit it.

We make a small number of exceptional yarns — chosen for softness, drape, warmth, and longevity — for knitters who care as much about the finished garment as the process of creating it.

Our Fibers

Our signature yarn is eco cashmere: a blend of virgin Mongolian cashmere and responsibly recycled cashmere fiber, spun in Italy by a heritage mill in Prato, Tuscany.

The virgin cashmere comes from the soft undercoat of goats raised by nomadic herders in Mongolia, fiber selected for its length, fineness, and warmth. The recycled cashmere is sourced from existing garments and production surplus, sorted by color, and blended with the virgin fiber to create a yarn that is extraordinarily soft, naturally lofty, and resistant to pilling.

The result is not a compromise. It is cashmere that performs better; softer in hand, more durable in wear, and made with a fraction of the environmental cost.

Our Process

Our yarn is spun by a heritage Italian mill in Prato, a region with over a century of expertise in fine fiber production. Prato is home to the world’s deepest knowledge of textile recycling and fiber innovation, and our mill combines that tradition with modern precision and couture design.

The fiber is carded, blended, and spun to our specifications. Only the virgin fiber is dyed, using non-toxic, environmentally responsible dyes and matched precisely to the tone of the recycled cashmere. The water used in production is cleaned and returned to nature.

Every skein is the product of deep expertise, careful sourcing, and a commitment to making yarn in the most conscious way possible.

Our Difference

Eco cashmere uses 74% less water, 66% less energy, and produces 78% less carbon dioxide than conventional cashmere production.

We don’t share these numbers as a marketing claim. We share them because they are part of what makes our yarn exceptional. Sustainable production doesn’t come at the expense of a beautiful yarn, it is fundamentally how a beautiful yarn is made.
